CSX to expand Columbus terminal
CSX said it is spending $59 million to expand an intermodal freight terminal in Columbus, Ohio.
The company said the project is part of its National Gateway initiative, a project linking deepwater East Coast ports with Midwest markets.
Earlier this year CSX opened a $175 million intermodal terminal in North Baltimore in Northwest Ohio.
CSX said the Columbus terminal expansion will give the region capacity for anticipated growth in business and enhance the economical and environmentally friendly rail intermodal service.
The Columbus terminal expansion includes a redesign of the site footprint, installation and realignment of tracks, reconfiguration of inbound and outbound truck gates, additional onsite parking, and three, high-tech, rail-mounted, electric wide-span cranes.
