CSXI again routing cross-country through New Orleans

CSXI again routing cross-country through New Orleans

CSX Intermodal said Friday it is once again routing traffic from Southern California to its service points in the Southeast through New Orleans.

CSXI had to change its routing after Hurricane Katrina in August. But it is now routing traffic from Southern California and headed to Atlanta, Charlotte, Savannah, Charleston and Florida over New Orleans.

CSXI noted that interline traffic from New Orleans to Savannah will go to the Port of Savannah, while westbound service will originate at the CSXI facility in Savannah.

Eastbound and westbound Florida freight will be routed through Atlanta.

Intermodal service from Southern California to Mobile is not yet moving over New Orleans, nor is service from New Orleans proper to Mobile.
