CUSTOMS APPOINTS WINWOOD ACTING DEPUTY COMMISSIONER
U.S. Customs Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly has appointed Charles W. Winwood to acting deputy commissioner.
Winwood replaces Samuel Banks, who retired as deputy commissioner of the agency last week. In this new role, Winwood will work closely with the commissioner and provide a liaison to the other assistant commissioners of Customs.
Winwood began his career at Customs in 1972. He steadily climbed the ranks. While serving as acting deputy commissioner, Winwood will continue his role as assistant commissioner of Customs’ Office of Field Operations in Washington.
