D.W. Morgan to provide logistics services to Redback Networks

Supply chain consultant D.W. Morgan Co. Wednesday announced an expanded contract with its telecommunications client, San Jose-based Redback Networks.

Morgan will provide Redback with warehousing, product configuration and fulfillment services in the United States under terms of the new agreement. Financial details of the deal were not released.

Under the deal, Pleasanton-based Morgan will provide distribution management and warehousing operations to supply Redback’s networking products to local and regional Internet service providers as well as telecom carriers. Morgan will also provide other value-added logistics services such as inventory control, fulfillment and shipping of finished goods to customers.

The agreement is Morgan’s second outsourcing project for Redback. The first was managing the telecom firm's international service depots.

Redback was acquired by telecom giant Ericsson in December for just over $2 billion.

In conjunction with the signing, Morgan also announced the opening of a multiclient logistics center in San Jose featuring a 31,000-square-foot warehouse, fulfillment and distribution facility.

In addition to its headquarters in Pleasanton, Morgan maintains regional offices in Atlanta; Los Angeles; Tampa, Fla.; and Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas. An Asia-Pacific subsidiary, D.W. Morgan Pte. Ltd., is based in Singapore.
