Damen Marine Components opened an 11,000-square-meter plant in Jiangyin, China, a city situated on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, 85 miles northwest of Shanghai.
Propeller nozzles, rudders, special constructions and winches will be produced at the facility, Damen said in a statement.
The new plant, which allows the company to broaden its portfolio with additional products such as hydraulic winches and thruster tunnels, is nearly double the size of the company’s factory in Suzhou, China.
The Jiangyin China facility will serve Asia, the Middle East and the United States West Coast.
Damen Marine Components is part of the Damen Shipyards Group, which operates 32 shipbuilding and repair yards with 9,000 employees worldwide.
