D’AMICO ADOPTS ITALIA AS LINER SHIPPING BRAND NAME

D’Amico di Navigazione, the Rome-based Italian shipping
group, has concentrated all its liner shipping activities into sister company Italia di
Navigazione, effective Jan. 1.
D’Amico bought Italia from the Finmare group in 1998 and previously operated
in liner shipping under two names – D’Amico and Italia.
Italia operates the "Med Pacific Express" transatlantic service, on
which Zim Israel Navigation and Contship Containerlines take space.
D’Amico’s also plans to incorporate its other liner shipping subsidiary, Sius
di Navigazione, into Italia. A spokesperson for Italia estimated that allowing for legal
procedures, the change could happen within six months.
D’Amico’s other business interests, including its bulk activities, are not
affected by the change of name of its liner shipping activities.
