DANZAS ACQUIRES AUSTRIAN LOGISTICS UNIT OF PHILIPS
Danzas has acquired Vindo Logistik und Industrie, the
Austrian logistics and forwarding subsidiary of Philips, the Dutch electronics
multinational.
The terms of the takeover, the latest of a long series of acquisitions
by the fast-expanding Deutsche Post/Danzas group in recent months, were not disclosed.
Vindo Logistik, based in Laxenburg, Austria, provides logistics
services to Philips Austria and to customers outside the Philips group. It has annual
sales equivalent to about 60 million Swiss francs ($39 million) and 170 employees.
Danzas said that the company has expertise in worldwide procurement and
distribution logistics, in importing and exporting in Central and Eastern Europe and in
customs brokerage.
Philips is selling the logistics subsidiary as part of a policy to
concentrate on core activities.
