DANZAS GETS EUROPEAN CONTRACT FOR VOSSLOH-SCHWABBE
Vossloh Elektro GmbH, a German lighting equipment producer, has awarded a large pan-European logistics contract to Danzas GmbH, the German arm of the Danzas group.
Under the contract, Danzas will operate finished-product warehouses and the entire product distribution system for the German company. For Danzas, the contract represents annual revenues of 20 to 25 million Deutschmark ($10 to $12 million).
The contract initially covers five years and is based on the integrated logistics concept, Danzas said.
At the beginning, Danzas will take on Germany-wide distribution of the products ex-warehouse on a just-in-time basis, as well as part and full load Vossloh-Schwabe shipments to the company’s European subsidiaries. Danzas will also handle incoming transportation from producers in Europe and delivering it to the production plants. In the warehouses, Danzas will handle order picking and repacking.
“Because Vossloh-Schwabe products in Europe are put into storage only once, the concept includes ‘merge in transit’ operations for the articles coming from different warehouses,” Danzas said. The logistics service provider will also dispatch consignments to destinations in Hong Kong, Mumbai, Singapore, Australia, Latin America and the U.S., by air or sea.
