DANZAS SETS UP STARBROKER AS WHOLESALER OF CAPACITY
Danzas, the fast-growing forwarding and logistics group,
has set up StarBroker, a wholesaler of air and ocean freight capacity.
Danzas said that StarBroker, based in Basel, Switzerland, will be an
"in-house carrier system" and will primarily manage air and ocean freight for
Danzas.
"By buying space and charter capacity centrally for each major route,
StarBroker will improve services for clients considerably," Danzas said.
The Swiss group said that customers would benefit from more frequent
departures and more guaranteed space.
StarBroker will operate as a separate legal entity, but it will work closely
with the Danzas Intercontinental business unit, in charge of air and ocean freight.
The new subsidiary will offer its services not only to Danzas, but also to
third parties such as co-loaders and big multinational companies.
The new unit’s first subsidiary, StarBroker (HKG) Ltd., based in Hong Kong,
will deal initially with transpacific freight moving from Asia to North, Central and South
America. Mauro Mazzacurati will head the new subsidiary.
Danzas’ establishment of StarBroker follows the introduction of a similar
operation, called Air Sea Broker, by the Panalpina group.
