DANZAS TO RESTRUCTURE LOGISTICS OPERATIONS

DANZAS TO RESTRUCTURE LOGISTICS OPERATIONS

Danzas, the forwarding and logistics arm of Deutsche Post, will realign its logistics units to provide a more integrated approach to shippers in specific industries.

The Swiss company said it will integrate three units — Consumer Solutions, Industry Solutions and Specialties — to form one logistics-focused Solutions business unit, including the former Nedlloyd, ASG and Deutsche Post Contract Logistics operations.

Solutions will continue to focus on offering logistics services to shippers in the global automotive, electronic, fashion, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications industries. It's expected to generate annual sales of about $1.1 billion.

Paul Bijvoets, head of Specialties, will head the integrated unit. Rob Siegers, head of Industry Solutions, will be responsible for worldwide operations. Mike Proffitt, head of Consumer Solutions, will lead business development for the entire Danzas Group and will also attempt to expand the company’s electronic commerce business.

Danzas Group will consist of three primary business units after the change on May 1. Solutions will focus on logistics. Intercontinental, which includes the former Air Express International operation, will handle global air freight and ocean forwarding. Eurocargo will provide road and rail transport within Europe.
