David Bradford, one of the original employees at FreightWaves has been promoted to EVP Commercial Engagement of the FreightWaves Community. The Community consists of FreightWaves.com news and commentary, Waves Events, and membership.
Editorial Publishing (John Kingston), Waves Events (John Bowes), and Community Engagement (Mitch Hixon) will continue to report to their respective executives.
David will oversee the commercial activities and product execution of the FreightWaves Community. The sales teams that are involved in commercial activities for these areas will report to David. David has ran membership at BiTA and Waves events for the past year. He will now oversee the sales and commercial team involved with FreightWaves.com sponsored content.
David has been with FreightWaves since August of 2016, in the company’s earliest days. His contributions to the commercial progress of the firm have been noticed by the venture community. The company has been called one of the “Fastest growing enterprise tech firms”, and has raised $18.4 million dollars from some of the leading venture firms. This, along with the rapid revenue growth has enabled FreightWaves to rise to #51 of Crunchbase’s rankings.
In remarking about the appointment, David stated, “the culture of FreightWaves is the most important thing that drives the team to keep the momentum going. I love helping the freight community deal with major pressures including technology disruption, market economic changes, and regulatory challenges. The future of Freight is bright and I love being apart of this Community.”
Bradford, has been involved in sales and management in the trucking industry for the past two decades. He has held positions at U.S. Xpress, TransCard, Covenant Transport, and Lipsey Logistics. Most notably, he was involved in the early-days of Xpress Direct, one of the largest providers of on-demand trucking services. David was instrumental in operational design for the operation, most notably establishing the POD structure in 2003, which has been credited towards accelerating Xpress Direct’s growth.

The BiTA Community has quickly become the leading organization that is developing education, content, and engagement around technology applications and tech standards for the freight industry. BiTA Community works alongside BiTA Standards, led by Chris Burruss to ensure that the BiTA Community has opportunities for engagement and involvement in the development of technology standards. The Waves events showcases top subject matter experts involved in the intersection of technology and the Freight Markets.
