DB Schenker doubles capacity on Dubai/Toledo air cargo link
DB Schenker has introduced a second aircraft on its service from Dubai to Toledo, Ohio via Frankfurt-Hahn, which started last June.
The new service, using a Boeing 747-400 Freighter from Emirates SkyCargo, departs Dubai every Wednesday, while the existing operation departs the Middle East every Saturday.
“Our experience over recent months has shown that the service we offer represents an interesting solution for the increasingly complex supply chains of the electronics, automotive, mechanical engineering and apparel industries,” said Thomas C. Lieb, member of the board of management of Schenker AG responsible for global air and ocean freight.
Schenker said the new service is closely linked to an intermodal logistics service on the main Asia/Europe routes called SCHENKERskybridge, which it said compares with ocean cargo for freight rates, but with 50 percent faster transit times. Costs compared to pure air freight are up to 50 percent lower, Schenker said.
