DB Schenker JV to open automotive logistics center in China

The third-party logistics provider has partnered with Jinbei Automotive to build a 42,000-square-meter facility in the Shenyang Tiexi district of northeast China, the DB Schenker’s second largest logistics center in the country.

DB Schenker has formed a joint venture with Jinbei Automotive to build the third-party’s second largest logistics center in China, according to a statement from the company.
The joint venture, called Schenker Logistics Jinbei (SJL), was created with the intention to provide logistics services in the city of Shenyang in northeastern China, one of the primary hubs for the country’s automotive industry. It will offer a full range of logistics services including customized logistics solutions, supply chain management, pick and pack, just in time/sequence inventory, inventory management, quality control, cross docking and vendor managed inventory.
The SJL facility, scheduled to open in November 2016, will consist of two warehouses with a total area of 42,000 square meters. Officials from both companies were on hand earlier this week for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new center.
“The groundbreaking ceremony is a major step forward magnifying our footprint in the world’s largest automotive market,” Schenker AG Global CEO Jochen Thewes said at the ceremony.
According to DB Schenker, SJL already provides a range of customized logistics services in Shenyang for automotive customers like Toyota.
