The logistics provider launched a new rail connection between Germany and the Netherlands Wednesday.
DB Schenker BTT GmbH launched a new rail connection today between KombiTerminal Burghausen (KTB) in south east Germany and the Port of Rotterdam via the CTS facilities at Cologne-Niehl Container Terminal, situated in the western German city of Cologne, the Port of Rotterdam said.
Burghausen is in a region referred to as the “Bavarian chemical triangle,” so called for its high concentration of chemical manufacturing companies, which make products like pharmaceuticals, primary plastics, paints, lacquers and putties, body care products, and chemical fibers.
The new rail connection allows freight forwarders, logistics companies and shipping companies to efficiently connect the Bavarian chemical triangle with the Rhine-Ruhr region and the Port of Rotterdam.
“Thanks to the shuttle connection with the port of Rotterdam, we can offer our clients an excellent alternative that allows them to maintain a quick, reliable and efficient connection with global import and export flows,” CEO of DB Schenker BT GmbH and DB Schenker Rail AG Senior Vice President European Industry Sector Chemicals, Oil and Fertilizer Carsten Hinne said in a statement.
