DELTA REPORTS EARNINGS GROWTH, DEFERS B777 DELIVERIES
Delta Air Lines reported an 11-percent increase in net income to $216
million for the quarter ending March 31.
Revenue was up 3 percent to $3.5 billion. The airline’s operating margin
rose to 10.2 percent from 10 percent.
Separately, the airline announced it will defer delivery of four
B777-200s and replace them with four B767-300 extended-range aircraft,
scheduled for delivery beginning next year.
Delta was forced to defer the B777 deliveries by its pilots, who have
requested a rate of pay for operating the B777 that is 47 percent higher
than Delta’s offer.
