DEUTSCHE POST, DEUTSCHE TELEKOM TO SWAP BUSINESS
Deutsche Post plans to take over the logistics and transportation
business of Deutsche Telekom, Germany’s national phone company, in a move by the two
respective transport and telecommunications giants to
concentrate on core competencies.
Deutsche Post expects to gather some 500 million Deutsche marks ($272
million) annually from the new business.
As part of the deal, Deutsche Telecom plans to take control over certain
of Deutsche Post’s information technology operations and will operate the
postal company’s telecommunications network.
