DEUTSCHE POST GETS EC APPROVAL FOR TAKEOVER OF AEI
Deutsche Post AG, the German postal service and logistics group, has received the approval of the European Commission for its $1.1-billion takeover of Air Express International.
Following the EC decision and earlier U.S. regulatory approvals, Deutsche Post has now received all necessary regulatory clearances to acquire the U.S.-based forwarder.
As previously announced, Deutsche Post’s tender offer to purchase all outstanding shares of Air Express International will expire tonight (Wednesday), unless further extended.
The offer was previously extended to provide additional time to obtain necessary regulatory approvals for the transaction, including approvals in the U.S. and under the EC’s regulations.
Deutsche Post, the parent company of Danzas, intends to integrate Air Express International’s activities with those of Danzas.
