Developer completes two Pennsylvania distribution centers

Higgins Development Partners said it has completed construction of a speculative 400,260-square-foot distribution center within the 3,000-acre Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazleton, Pa.

It’s the second warehouse that Higgins has completed in less than a month in Northeast Pennsylvania, a popular area for distributing goods moving in and out of the Port of New York and New Jersey as well as Philadelphia.

The Hazelton facility is located near Interstates 80 and 81 and Route 924, and had been under construction since October 2005. The entire facility is available for occupancy for Keystone Opportunity Zone status. This is an economic development program that reduces state and local taxes.

Higgins also owns a 30-acre site in Humboldt Industrial Park, which is capable of accommodating a 455,000-square-foot front-loaded industrial building and has rail service.

In March, Higgins said it had completed a speculative 385,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility in the Arcadia West Industrial Park at in Weisenberg Township. That facility is near the intersection of I-78 and Route 863, and was the fourth building Higgins had built in the Lehigh Valley since 2000. That park has applied for foreign trade zone status.

Higgins also has another site at the Arcadia West Park that is able to accommodate a 100,000-square-foot facility.
