DHL boosts Penang air cargo lift by 30%

DHL Express has increased its cargo capacity by 30 percent in Penang, Malaysia, with the introduction of its new A300 freighter service.
Almost 61 percent of the exports from Penang go to China, the United States, Hong Kong, Japan and Germany, while 63 percent of imports come from China, the United States, Singapore, Japan and Germany, the express carrier noted.
The new A300 service, which operates five times weekly from Panang to Hong Kong, also connects to DHL’s non-stop service from Hong Kong to Los Angeles. Customers in Penang will essentially have access to one-day express delivery to all of the U.S. West Coast.
“As a new generation aircraft, the A300 not only offers greater reliability, but helps us achieve greater per tonnage carbon efficiency as compared to the B727 that we are replacing,” said David Ng, managing director for DHL Express in Malaysia and Brunei, in a statement.
