The company spent 140 million euros (U.S. $172 million) on the new 36,500-square-meter (390,000-square-foot) facility and added 200 new jobs, for a total of 1,200 DHL employees, at Brussels Airport.
The facility is DHL’s fifth largest regional hub. It offers air and ground links to numerous European destinations, as well as direct intercontinental connections to the Americas, Middle East and Africa, the company said.
“[The] Brussels hub is one of our largest hubs in the world, and because of its location in the logistics heart of Europe, it also plays an important role in connecting companies from this region with the world,” DHL Express CEO Ken Allen said.
