DHL expands forwarding in Pakistan
DHL has invested $9 million to enhance its freight forwarding and supply chain operations in Pakistan.
The company said the money would go towards upgrading warehouses, fleet, offices, computer systems and employee training and development programs in the country.
DHL also opened a 15,000-square-foot building about 12 kilometers from the airport and 15 kilometers from the seaport at Karachi. The facility will house more than 100 employees with room for further expansion.
'We are confident business in Pakistan will continue to grow, driven especially by imports and exports of apparel, footwear, chemicals and life sciences,' said Imran Shaikh, managing director of DHL Global Forwarding in Pakistan. 'In order for local businesses to compete effectively, it is important for Pakistan to have a comprehensive range of logistics services, to facilitate the movement of goods efficiently.'
