The forwarder is currently testing Postbus Courier, a new service for urgent parcel deliveries, between Berlin and Hamburg, Germany.
Deutsche Post DHL Group is currently using the Postbus, a German passenger bus service operated by Deutsche Post Mobility GmbH, to test “Postbus Courier,” a new service for urgent parcel deliveries.
The service has been introduced between Berlin, Germany and Hamburg, Germany and is available for private and business customers, DHL said.
During the introductory phase, Postbus Courier is providing same-day parcel transport once a day (Monday through Friday) on every line. The service costs 20 euros (U.S. $21.7) during the introductory phase, which must be paid for in cash at the parcel drop-off location at the service point.
Customers print out shipping documents and take the documents and parcels to the Postbus Courier service point in Berlin or Hamburg. The service staff then places the parcels in bags, and seals and securely stows them in the Postbus to protect the goods from damage and theft.
DHL is considering other cities to include in Postbus Courier for next year, Deutsche Post CEO of Mail Communication and DHL Parcel designated head Achim Dünnwald said in a statement.
