DHL Supply Chain will invest 40 million euros ($52 million) in Indonesia during the next few years, more than doubling its vehicle fleet, increasing its employment base by nearly two thirds, and expanding its warehouse space by more than half.
The additions are all meant to tap into an estimated double-digit growth in the supply chain industry nationwide.
The first of the warehouse investments is a newly opened 17,000-square-meter facility in Cimanggis that will consolidate, store and then redistribute shipments to four factories in the area and through 300 distribution channels. The facility can handle 176 containers daily.
DHL hopes to tap into the country’s expanding consumer, retail, energy, automotive and technology sectors.
“Indonesia is a key focus for us,” DHL’s Oscar de Bok said in a statement. “This is why we are proactively investing to ensure we have the right infrastructure and people to support this.” – Jon Ross
