DHL to open warehouse for Thai retailer
DHL Supply Chain said Tuesday it is extending its relationship with Thai wholesaler and retailer Makro by building a $4.6 million automated warehouse on the northern outskirts of Bangkok.
The warehouse is located in Wang Noi and will have 14,500 square meters of space and capacity for more than 80 million cases per year. DHL said it will cut lead time by as much as half, with suppliers' goods routed to stores in Bangkok in as little as six hours.
The warehouse is due to open in July. Makro operates 41 cash-and-carry outlets throughout Thailand. The company has been a customer of DHL for five years.
