The Department of Homeland Security is looking for a few good men and women to donate their time helping develop homeland security strategy and assess threats, improve internal management and processes, and identify trends.

The department has created a Loaned Executive Program to gain short-term infusions of private sector expertise to help fulfill its mission. Under the program, executives would not draw a government salary. Instead, they would continue to receive salary and benefits from their regular employer. Most loaned executives would have the option to renew for an additional six months of work.

DHS has posted on its Web site an opening for a senior advisor for strategy development in the Office of Policy and Office of Strategic Plans that seeks persons with a significant background in global distribution, shipping, retail, transportation or similar industries, and with specific experience in strategy formulation, future needs projections, capital budgeting, and the linkage between strategy and operational processes.
