Fortna, which handles distribution optimization and implementation for brands like ASICS, will use LLamasoft’s supply chain design tool as its core technology, the company said in a statement.
Distribution consulting and engineering firm Fortna it will use supply chain design software from LLamasoft as the core technology for its strategic client engagements, the company said in a statement earlier this week.
Fortna uses LLamasoft’s flagship Supply Chain Guru tool to model and analyze its clients’ supply chain network to help them better understand the trade-offs when choosing the optimal configuration. Fortna then designs and implements, and supports distribution operations. Its clients include O’Reilly, ASICS, Pick n Pay and Totto.
“An undeniable shift has occurred where convenience and speed are table stakes,” said Andrew Breckenridge, executive vice president of Fortna.
LLamasoft has been a leader in supply chain design and optimization software, driving shippers and their service providers to engage in what the company refers to as continuous supply chain optimization. That optimization can include everything from where a company sources to the transportation network it uses, to final mile distribution. American Shipper examined the idea of supply chain design in its October 2014 issue.
