Worker at APM Terminals at Elizabeth was struck by cargo equipment on Friday.
A woman working for APM Terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey’s Elizabeth facility “was struck and killed Friday afternoon by a piece of equipment that moves shipping containers,” the Star-Ledger newspaper reported.
The news report quoted port authority police as saying the dockworker was hit at 1:20 p.m. by a top loader.
The port authority said the terminal was shut down for the remainder of the day and its police department is investigating the cause of the accident.
