DSV builds large German DC

Third party logistics services firm DSV, together with real estate developer Habacker, will build a 60 million euro ($76.7 million) logistics facility in Krefeld-Fichtenhain, Germany.
The 80,000-square-meter facility will consolidate a number of DSV facilities of the Road, Air & Sea and Solutions divisions in North Rhine-Westphalia, the company said. Habacker will start construction in 2013. DSV plans to move into the new facility, which will be staffed by more than 900 employees, during 2014.
“Combining the three divisions into one facility will certainly strengthen our market position in North Rhine-Westphalia,” said Peter Fog-Petersen, managing director for DSV Road in Germany. The facility will take over DSV facilities currently located in Neuss, Mettman, Duisburg, Nettetal, Düsseldorf and Willich.
