Dunavant adds China operation, Alabama customs broker

Dunavant Global Logistics Group has opened an operation in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, in addition to acquiring longtime Mobile, Ala.-based customs broker John M. Brining Inc.

   Dunavant Global Logistics Group has opened an operation in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, expanding its presence in the Chinese market.
   At the same time, the Memphis, Tenn.-based third-party logistics company announced that it has acquired Mobile, Ala.-based customs broker John M. Brining Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
   Dunavant’s new China-based subsidiary, Dunavant International Freight Agency, will offer booking agent services, intra-Asia freight and trucking services, and serve as the liaison for providing U.S. destination agent services to China-only based forwarders.
   Victor Xiong, a former international general manager at COSCO, will run Dunavant’s China operation.
