EC CLEARS DEUTSCHE POST’S PURCHASE OF NEDLLOYD DISTRIBUTION ARM
The European Commission has approved the acquisition by the Deutsche
Post group and its subsidiary Danzas of the transport and distribution arm of Royal
Nedlloyd.
Danzas will absorb the less-than-truckload and logistics activities of
Nedlloyd, while the Deutsche Post parent group will integrate the Dutch group’s former
parcel business into its international parcel division.
Peter Wagner, chairman of Danzas, said that the acquisition will extend
the company’s market position in logistics and strengthen its LTL business, particularly
in Germany.
The activities of Nedlloyd, purchased for 533 million euro ($624
million), will now be transferred to Deutsche Post and Danzas on July 6, a spokesman for
Nedlloyd said.
