EGL WINS NOKIA CONTRACT
EGL Inc., the Houston-based logistics provider formerly known as Eagle USA Airfreight, has won a multi-million dollar international transportation and logistics contract from cell phone maker Nokia Inc.
EGL said it will be supporting the manufacturing and distribution of Nokia’s telecom products in Latin America. Primary responsibilities will include managing the flow of raw materials into Nokia's manufacturing plant in Brazil, warehousing and consolidating materials from multiple suppliers, shipping for just-in-time delivery and distributing finished goods throughout Latin America.
EGL began serving Nokia in 1996 as a preferred U.S. domestic forwarder for time-sensitive shipments over 70 pounds. Nokia's U.S. headquarters is in Texas.
