The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Dan Elwell has been sworn in this week as its deputy administrator.
Elwell is no stranger to the FAA, having previously served as the agency’s assistant administrator for policy, planning and environment from 2006 to 2008.
Afterwards, he was president and managing partner of Elwell and Associates; senior vice president for safety, security and operations at Airlines For America; and vice president at the Aerospace Industries Association.
Just prior to his appointment by President Trump and his Senate confirmation, he served as senior advisor on aviation to Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.
