Emirates SkyCargo promises expansion at Columbus

The freight division of Emirates, which commenced import cargo flights from Dubai to Columbus, Ohio’s Rickenbacker International Airport last year, said it plans to add frequencies, services and staff to the hub.

Emirates SkyCargo, which started offering import cargo flights from Dubai to Columbus, Ohio’s Rickenbacker International Airport last year, said it plans to add frequencies, services and staff to the hub.
To keep up with demand, Emirates often operates additional frequencies each month to Rickenbacker. Since April 2016, the airline has flown 12 extra flights into Rickenbacker, a number that is growing on a weekly basis, according to the Rickenbacker airport authority.
“We saw a lot of potential in working with Rickenbacker after flying several charters there for apparel shippers and auto manufacturers during the west coast port strike in early 2015,” said Arthur Brown, Emirates SkyCargo’s regional manager of the central United States, in a statement.
“Our forwarders and shippers in the region are extremely satisfied with the service and speed to market we are delivering,’ he added. “SkyCargo will expand in Rickenbacker with export development from the Ohio Valley, offering exceptional service to our global network.”
In addition to Emirates SkyCargo, Rickenbacker is also served by Cargolux, Cathay Pacific, UPS and FedEx.
Emirates SkyCargo’s U.S. freighter service covers Columbus, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and New York, while it also has belly-hold cargo services on its passenger flights to San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, Boston and Dallas.
