Emirates to join Asia/U.S. East Coast of Zim, ITS
Emirates Shipping Line will take slots on the weekly Asia/U.S. East Coast AUX service of Zim and Italia Marittima SpA (ITS), effective Nov. 21.
The AUX uses nine vessels averaging about 4,300 TEUs and calls Shanghai; Ningbo; Qingdao; Cristobal, Panama; Kingston, Jamaica; Port Everglades, Fla.; Savannah, Ga.; Wilmington, N.C.; Kingston; Cristobal; and back to Shanghai.
ITS's fellow Evergreen Group carriers Evergreen Marine and Hatsu Marine also have space on the AUX.
'The AUX service will provide our customers with the fastest direct links between two of the world's most dynamic regions: Eastern China and the East Coast of the United States,' said Vikas Khan, Emirates' chairman and chief executive officer. 'Through the intermodal gateways at Wilmington and Savannah we can provide a seamless connection to the East Coast of the U.S. and beyond.'
