The terminal was renamed after being purchased from APM Terminals in November 2014.
Virginia International Gateway, Inc., the new owner of the container terminal in Portsmouth, Virginia, named Eric A. Sisco as chairman.
Sisco most recently was president of APM Terminals Americas, where he had responsibility for 12 North American and three Latin American container terminals as well as for strategy, business development, acquisitions, joint ventures and divestitures.
Prior to that, he served A.P. Moller-Maersk as outside legal counsel to the Maersk Group and later as a senior executive for its container terminal operations. He also worked CEO of Maersk España and CEO of P&O Nedlloyd before being appointed president of APM Terminals America.
The terminal, formerly known as APM Terminals Virginia, was renamed Virginia International Gateway after being acquired from APM Terminals by investment funds managed by Alinda Capital Partners and Universities Superannuation Scheme in November 2014.
