EUROGATE Intermodal takes majority share in Floyd

Hamburg, Germany-based EUROGATE Intermodal GmbH has acquired a 51 percent majority share in Hungarian rail transport company Floyd ZRt.

   Floyd is EUROGATE Intermodal’s partner on the boxXpress.hu six-times weekly service between the German seaports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven and Budapest Bilk.

   EUROGATE Intermodal, a subsidiary of Europe’s biggest container terminal operator, EUROGATE, acquired the shares in Floyd from previous owner, Andr's Bogdan, who will keep 26 percent of the shares and become chairman of Floyd’s management board. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

   The remaining 23 percent shares in Floyd are held by ICE Transport Kft, which is also the sales agency for EUROGATE Intermodal in Hungary.

   “EUROGATE Intermodal now offers its customers an integrated container service from a single source with a focus on a uniform quality standard along the entire transport chain,” the German firm said in a statement.

   Floyd and TX Logistik Austria GmbH cooperate under the system leadership of boxXpress.de GmbH, in which EUROGATE Intermodal is a shareholder.
