EVERGREEN AND COSCO DISCUSS ASIA/AFRICA/SOUTH AMERICA VSA
Evergreen Line and China Ocean Shipping Co. are discussing a
vessel-sharing agreement in the trade between Asia, South Africa and the East Coast of
South America.
A spokesman for Evergreen said that the talks are advanced, but no final
decision has been made.
If it is confirmed, the vessel-sharing agreement would be the first
cooperation agreement between Evergreen and COSCO.
Evergreen already operates a 10-ship service between Asia, South Africa
and the East Coast of South America with ships of up to 2,728-TEU capacity.
COSCO and Yangming currently operate a separate service in the same trade. A
spokesman for Yangming said that the line would probably take space on a future
COSCO/Evergreen service.
