Evergreen Group to establish Italian joint venture agency

   The Taiwanese Evergreen Group will establish a joint venture liner agency in Italy on Jan. 1 with its long-time agent Greensisam SpA.

   Evergreen Italy SpA will represent all three Evergreen Group shipping lines in Italy, Evergreen Marine Corp., Hatsu Marine Ltd. and Trieste-based Lloyd Triestino di Navigazione SpA. The new company will be based in Livorno and have branch offices in Genoa, Milan, Trieste, Venice and Taranto. P. L. Maneschi has been appointed chairman of Evergreen Italy while Sigma Chang, formerly with Evergreen Marine in Taipei, will serve as president.

   Tecnomar SpA will continue to represent Lloyd Triestino in the Italian market as sub agent to Evergreen Italy.
