EVERGREEN REMOVES SHIP FROM U.S. EAST COAST/BRAZIL SERVICE

Evergreen Line will remove one ship from its U.S. East Coast/East Coast
of South America service and reduce the number of ports called.
From May 3, the "SNA" service of Evergreen will no longer call at
Montevideo, Uruguay, and Cristobal, Panama. A weekly call at Kingston,
Jamaica, is being added, while the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Paranagua
will no longer be served weekly.
The changes will allow the Taiwanese line to cut the number of ships
deployed to six.
Evergreen’s rationalization move follows the ending of discussions with
Mediterranean Shipping Co. about a merger of their services in the
over-tonnaged U.S./East Coast of South America trade.
