Evergreen vessel aids stranded sailors

An Evergreen containership last week came to the aid of seven sailors stranded in the Java Sea after their small cargo ship had sunk in heavy seas off the coast of Indonesia.

Evergreen's Uni-Pacific was en route from Jakarta to Malaysia when it came across a life raft with the seven sailors aboard at about 4 p.m. on June 16, a statement from the Taiwan-based liner carrier said.

The operation took 15 minutes, and the ship continued on the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, where the saved sailors departed and were flown back to Indonesia.
