Executive Moves: Crowley and Xeneta

Crowley promotes attorney; new VP driving Xeneta sales in North America

Crowley Maritime Corp. has promoted Tim Bush to vice president and deputy general counsel.
In his new position, Bush, who will be based in Houston, will help support the company’s growth as a leading provider of solutions for the U.S. government and various public-sector agencies.
Bush will continue to serve as Crowley’s lead attorney on several large projects for the U.S government, including the Defense Freight Transportation Services contract for the U.S. Department of Defense, and Crowley’s transportation and logistics relief efforts in response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria, primarily for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Bush joined Crowley in 2013 as senior corporate counsel. Prior to that, he worked for the American Bureau of Shipping, for which he was senior counsel and the principal engineer in charge of the stability group in the offshore engineering department. Bush also held various positions in ship operations and management with American Eagle Tankers and the Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group.

Xeneta said it is moving to accelerate the growth of its North American operation with the appointment of Florian Dussler as general manager and VP of sales in the Americas.
Dussler, previously the Americas VP for logistics software firm Transporeon, will head Xeneta’s New York office to grow both awareness and market share for the global freight benchmarking and market intelligence platform.
Xeneta, which crowdsources data from more than 700 leading international businesses to provide real-time rates transparency, opened its U.S. office in late 2016 to take advantage of the world’s largest container shipping market. Since then it has grown both its market presence and offering, launching into the air freight segment while expanding its ocean freight data from 60,000 to more than 160,000 port-to-port pairings.
According to Xeneta CRO and co-founder Thomas Sørbø, Dussler’s appointment is a sign of the Norwegian-headquartered firm’s ambitious plans.
“Florian is an established name within the logistics sector and has proven his ability to drive growth by launching and building Transporeon’s U.S. presence,” Sørbø said. “Xeneta has made great progress stateside so far, with a growing number of well-known global cargo owners accessing the very latest, most comprehensive data to unlock huge business value in their freight rate negotiations.
“We now want to push that further, answering what we see as clear market demand for this kind of advanced benchmarking tool and emulating our success in Europe in the U.S. and Canada,” he said.
Launched in Oslo in 2012, Xeneta says it now offers the world’s largest database of contracted ocean rates.
