CSX appoints executive vice president of operations; the Port of Seattle welcomes new commissioners and names commission president; Damco Distribution Services appoints president; and Yodel names chief executive officer.
CSX Corp., a Jacksonville, Fla.-based Class I railway, has named Edmond Harris executive vice president of operations. Harris has over 40 years of experience in the railroad industry in an operating capacity. Prior to joining CSX, Harris served as a senior advisor to Global Infrastructure Partners, chairman of Omnitrax Rail Network, and board director for Universal Rail Services. In addition, Harris has consulted recently with Rio Tinto in Australia and Cosan Industries in Brazil. He began his career with Illinois Central Railroad, and held leadership positions at Canadian National after it acquired Illinois Central Railroad. After retiring from CN, he joined Canadian Pacific, where he served as chief operations officer and subsequently joined the CP board.
The Port of Seattle has sworn in two new commissioners, Peter Steinbrueck and Ryan Calkins, and Stephanie Bowman has been re-elected to serve as a commissioner. Courtney Gregoire has been elected to serve as commission president for 2018.
Damco Distribution Services, Inc., the warehouse and distribution arm of Damco in North America, has appointed Bill Peratt to serve as president of Damco Distribution Services, succeeding Nick Taro, who will remain active with Damco Distribution Services in an advisory role over the next two years. Peratt has over 20 years of terminal operations, trucking, warehousing and distribution experience. He started with the Maersk Group in 1998, working in various leadership positions at APM Terminals, Bridge Terminal Transport, and most recently in Damco as senior director, west coast division for Damco Distribution Services.
Yodel, a United Kingdom-based independent parcel carrier, has appointed Andrew Peeler to serve as its new chief executive officer, succeeding Mike Cooper, who is leaving Yodel at the end of the month to become chief executive of Eurostar. Peeler joined Yodel in September 2017 as chief financial officer. He has previously held several senior executive and board positions in Europe, America and Australia at international blue chip companies such as Unilever, Cadbury Schweppes, Premier Foods and Bupa.
