Executive Moves: Gebrüder Weiss, ZIM, Team

Senger-Weiss will succeed Niessner as Gebrüder Weiss CEO; Destriau has been named CFO of ZIM; and Team Worldwide makes appointments.

Gebrüder Weiss has announced that Wolfram Senger-Weiss will succeed Wolfgang Niessner as CEO in January.
Niessner has led the Austria-based international logistics company since 2005. He is retiring effective Dec. 31.
Senger-Weiss has been a member of the Gebrüder Weiss management board since 2005, with responsibility for finance, law, purchasing, investments, HSEQ, internal audit and M&A.
“Wolfram Senger-Weiss was involved in all the key strategic initiatives at the company throughout the Niessner era. We are confident that Mr. Senger-Weiss will lead this company through the numerous challenges of our times and secure Gebrüder Weiss a permanent place among the world’s foremost logistics companies,” said Caspar Einem, chairman of the supervisory board.
Senger-Weiss has been president of the Austrian Association for Freight Forwarding & Logistics since 2012.
Under Niessner’s leadership, the company, with roots that date back to the 15th century, has nearly doubled in scale. In 2004, Gebrüder Weiss had a turnover of 700 million euros. Today that figure is 1.55 billion euros. Its locations have increased from 102 to 150, and the number of employees has grown from about 3,000 to more than 7,000 people.
It is expected that Niessner will join Gebrüder Weiss’ supervisory board next year and continue to be part of the company.
Following Niessner’s retirement, responsibility for land transport on the management board will be restructured. Jürgen Bauer, Gebrüder Weiss’ long-standing East regional manager, will be promoted to the management board within the same business area.

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. announced Monday that its board of directors has appointed Xavier Destriau as chief financial officer, effective June 15. He will be replacing acting CFO Yohai Benita.
Destriau will be joining the Israeli cargo shipping company after two years as strategic adviser to the founder and interim CFO of LTF Partners, an advisory firm with expertise in emerging and frontier markets. Prior to LTF Partners, he was the financial planning and analysis manager for Europe at Honeywell.
Destriau worked at CMA-CGM for 10 years. He was vice president and head of Group Financing from 2014 to 2016 and, during this period, he focused on managing the consolidated group debt and developing a diversified financing strategy with a strong Asian focus.

Global freight forwarder and 3PL provider Team Worldwide has named Jaime Cabrera as route development manager for its Latin America division.
Cabrera has more than 25 years of experience in logistics. He will focus on the alignment of Team Worldwide partners in the Latin American market. Team currently is optimizing the Miami gateway to Latin America through the expansion of its global service center.
Team also has announced that Jacqueline Gallego has been appointed as the supervisor of the global service center and Latin American gateway in Miami.
Gallego, who has extensive experience in operations and international logistics, will provide support in the coordination and optimization of functions among the gateway and Team customers, international partners and branch offices.
