Executive Moves: GPA, Yusen, Dayton Freight and Alliance Shippers

Georgia Ports Authority elects chairman and Yusen Logistics Mexico picks new president, while Dayton Freight Lines names corporate account manager and Alliance Shippers appoints national accounts manager.

   The Georgia Ports Authority board has elected James L. Allgood chairman. He succeeds James Walters in this role. Allgood, who served as the GPA board’s vice chairman for two years, will assume his new responsibilities July 1.

   Yusen Logistics Mexico has named Jordan Dewart president. He succeeds Hiroshi Shimizu, who was named president of Yusen Logistics India. Dewart, who has spent the past 18 years with the company, was most recently vice president of Yusen Logistics Mexico. He is currently overseeing the construction of the company’s Bajio Logistics Center, a 55,000-square-foot facility which will serve Mexico’s automotive manufacturing industry.

   Dayton Freight Lines has hired Patty Ash as corporate account manager. She will be responsible for serving the less-than-truckload needs of the company’s customers in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. Ash has worked for Yellow Freight, MMS Trucking and spent the last 19 years with Pitt Ohio.

   Alliance Shippers has appointed Sherri Tipton national account manager. Her primary focus will be overseeing the company’s major accounts for inbound shipments to and from Canada, Mexico and the United States.
