Executive moves: Jacksonville Port Authority, Lamar University

The Port of Jacksonville appointed a senior director of facilities development, while Lamar University named an executive director of its new Center for Advances in Port Management.

   The Jacksonville Port Authority has appointed Paul Soares senior director of facilities development. He will direct the port’s marine and landside infrastructure development and coordinate engineering and construction operations including all new construction and capital improvements. Soares was most recently assistant superintendent of operations for Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Fla.

   Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, has named Erik Stromberg executive director of its newly formed Center for Advances in Port Management. Stromberg served as chief executive officer of the American Association of Port Authorities for nearly a decade and as head of the North Carolina State Ports Authority for 10 years. He was most recently senior port advisor with Cardno, an engineering consulting firm in Charlottsville, Va., 2012-2015.
