Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort) selects chief operating officer, while Norfolk Southern (NS) names executive vice president and chief legal officer.
The Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort) has selected Frederick P. Wong Jr. as chief operating officer, effective Feb. 5, 2018. He joins JaxPort from PortMiami, where he had worked since 1997, most recently serving as assistant port director, with responsibility for all cruise, cargo and security operations.
As COO, Wong will oversee JaxPort’s terminal operations, public safety and engineering departments.
Class I railroad Norfolk Southern Corp. (NS) has named John M. Scheib executive vice president of law and administration and chief legal officer, effective March 1, 2018. Scheib will succeed William A. Galanko, who is retiring on the same date after 28 years with NS.
Scheib joined Norfolk Southern in 2005 as an attorney, was named vice president of law in 2016, and senior vice president of law and corporate relations in 2017. As CLO, Scheib will oversee law, government relations, corporate communications, human resources and labor relations.
Galanko, who joined Norfolk Southern in 1990 as a tax attorney, was elected an officer of the company in 1999, when he was named vice president of taxation. He was named executive vice president of law and administration in 2017.
