Executive Moves: MTC Logistics and USMEF

MTC Logistics appoints chief information officer, general managers and plant manager; while the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) elects new officer team.

MTC Logistics appoints chief information officer, general managers and plant manager; while the U.S. Meat Export Federation elects new officer team.

   Baltimore-based refrigerated and frozen warehousing company MTC Logistics appointed Dennis Rhodes to serve as chief information officer.
   Rhodes has over 40 years of experience in the temperature-controlled warehouse industry. He most recently served as chief information officer with DPH Services/Patriot Rail Co. in Jacksonville, Fla, and prior to that, he spent over 20 years in a similar capacity with Americold Logistics.
   MTC Logistics has also named Jeff Carden general manager of the distribution center in Baltimore; Mauricio Martinez as general manager of the distribution center in Jessup, Md.; and Dan Poarch as general manager of the distribution center in New Castle, Del. In addition, MTC Logistics has appointed Garry Kvech to the position of plant manager, assisting in the management of the Jessup distribution center.

   The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has elected Dennis Stiffler, Ph.D., to serve as USMEF chairman, succeeding Bruce Schmoll, a corn and soybean producer from Minnesota. Stiffler, who has served in many volunteer leadership roles for USMEF, has 30 years of livestock, meat industry and international marketing experience, and spent 10 years at major universities involved in teaching, research and extension services.
   The USMEF also appointed Conley Nelson to serve as chair-elect. Nelson serves as general manager of Smithfield Foods’ hog production division in the company’s five-state Midwest region, and was president of the National Pork Board in 2012-13.
   Serving as vice chair is Cevin Jones, an Idaho cattle feeder who operates custom feedlot Intermountain Beef.
   In addition, the USMEF appointed Pat Binger as secretary-treasurer. Binger heads international sales for Cargill Protein Group in Wichita, Kan. A 30-year Cargill employee, Binger first became involved with the USMEF over 25 years ago.
