NC Ports hires director of carrier and trade development, Dayton Freight Lines names regional vice president of operations, and the University of Denver appoints supply chain studies faculty member.

North Carolina Ports (NC Ports) has hired Benjamin M. Massa as its new director of carrier and trade development.
Massa joins NC Ports from United Arab Agencies, Inc., where he served as commercial director and AVP of sales and marketing.

Less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier Dayton Freight Lines, Inc. has named Brian Gratsch vice president of operations for the company’s Region 3 territory.
Gratsch, who began his career in 2002 as a dispatcher at the Dayton Service Center, has served as Region 2 VP of operations since 2012.
Dan Karcher, who has served as service center manager since his hiring in 1994, will replace Gratsch as Region 2 VP of operations.

The University of Denver has appointed Jack Buffington as a joint faculty member in supply chain shared between the school’s Transportation Institute (DTI) and the Daniels College of Business.
Currently responsible for warehousing and brewery fulfillment for MillerCoors, Buffington, who started his faculty appointment in mid-February, will spearhead the launch of the university’s new supply chain program.
