NYK Group Europe appoints chief executive officer and chief operating officer, while Capes Shipping Agencies hires general manager.
NYK Group Europe Ltd. has appointed Svein Steimler as president and chief executive officer, effective April 1, 2017. Steimler, who will also be appointed as a board member of the International Chamber of Shipping representing the Japanese Shipowners’ Association, is the first non-Japanese person to hold such a high position in NYK’s 131-year history
He will be succeeded as executive vice president and chief operating officer by Hideki Suzuki, who joined NYK in 1987 and currently serves as managing director of NYK Group Europe.
Norfolk, Va.-based Capes Shipping Agencies has hired Steven W. Hagen as vice president and general manager. A 30-year veteran of the maritime and ship agency industries, Hagen will be responsible for the overall management, operations and development of the company.
