Peel Ports appoints head of container operations and deputy chief operating officer, V. Group names interim CEO, AWO elects new chairman and vice chairman, IARW announces new board of director’s chairman, and WFLO names new board of governor’s chairman.

Peel Ports, V. Group, the American Waterways Operators, the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses, and the World Food Logistics Organization announced corporate appointments.
Port operator Peel Ports has appointed Jouke Schaap to lead its entire container operations. Previously, Peel Ports’ container business was led by David Huck, who has been promoted to deputy chief operating officer.
Schaap began his career as a consultant with Deloitte, and then joined the Port of Rotterdam, initially as business development manager of logistics, before going on to lead its breakbulk division for six years. He then moved to APM Terminals’ commercial team for Maasvlakte 2.
Maritime services provider V. Group has named Hanne Sorensen interim CEO until a full-time CEO takes over later this year to replace Clive Richardson.
Sorensen has more than 20 years of experience in the shipping and wider logistics industry with Maersk, having served amongst other roles as CEO of Maersk Tankers and CEO of Damco.
National trade association American Waterways Operators (AWO) has named Edward J. “Ted” Tregurtha as chairman. Tregurtha, who is president of Moran Towing Corp., succeeds outgoing chairman James. F. Farley, who is vice president of industry relations at Kirby Corp.
AWO also named Tom Marian vice chairman. Marian serves as general counsel at Buffalo Marine Service, Inc.
The International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW), the third-party temperature-controlled warehousing arm of the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), has named David O’Brien the 2017-2018 chairman of the board of directors.
O’Brien will be joined on the board by new IARW officers Dough Harrison, vice chairman (VersaCold Logistics Services, Vancouver, British Columbia); and Andy Janson, treasurer (Hanson Logistics, St. Joseph, Mich.).
Also appointed to serve three-year terms on the IARW board are directors-at-large Harry Halpert (MTC Logistics, Baltimore) and Neil Rider (AGRO Merchants Group, Dallas).
In addition, Rich Bauer (South East Cold Storage, Miramar, Fla.) was elected to represent the Southeastern Chapter.
The World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO), the research and education arm of the GCCA, named Nick Pedneault the 2017-2018 chairman of the WFLO’s board of governors.
Other new WFLO officers elected were Paul Henningsen, vice chairman (Henningsen Cold Storage, Hillsboro, Ore.); and Don Dick, treasurer (Dick Cold Storage, Columbus, Ohio).
In addition, Adam Forste (Lineage Logistics, San Francisco) was elected to serve a three-year term on the WFLO board, while Dan Kaplan (Cloverleaf Cold Storage, Sioux City, Iowa) and Mike Pokel (Midwest Refrigerated Services, Milwaukee, Wis.) were re-elected to three-year terms.
Meanwhile, Arne Martinsen (Transmar Ltd., Tiburon, Calif.) and Kirk Robertson (Terra Vista Capital, Washington D.C.) were re-elected to three-year terms as WFLO public members.
